Did you know that every au pair that comes to the USA with Cultural Care gets to start their program year with a special tour of New York City? Exciting, right!?
The tour is a highlight of the Au Pair Training School experience—a 5-day curriculum designed to help you acclimate to life as an au pair and make friends with fellow au pairs from around the world. Your time at our Training School—located just outside NYC in Tarrytown, NY—will start you off in America on the right foot, giving you all the tools and certifications you need to be a savvy, smart and successful au pair.
At our Training School, you’ll take important au pair courses and participate in group projects that introduce you to everything from food safety and childhood nutrition to effective communication strategies and relationship-building techniques. Our teachers will walk you through the complexities of the au pair role, and the best ways to manage stress and navigate common situations like homesickness or conflict. You’ll also become CPR- and First Aid-certified, with the help of hands-on methods from qualified instructors.
Most of all, your time at the Training School will be fun! We host events designed to help you make friends and get adjusted to the au pair community, such as pizza dinners, dance parties and even an international candy picnic!
Our au pairs often leave their time at the Training School feeling energized and inspired to make the most of their experience in America. The relationships they build during their first week often last throughout their program year and beyond—and the things they learn about life as an au pair help them travel, learn and grow in this important chapter of their lives.
